As the RMS Titanic embarked on its maiden voyage, the sound of Ragtime was heard throughout the ship. The White Star Orchestra delighted passengers with the newfangled melodies and conversational lyrics that were all the rage in 1912. Ragtime music reflected a new, modern pace of life and the fast changes that were propelling everyone into the future.

Experience the extraordinary piano artistry of Adam Swanson as he plays the music as heard on the fateful voyage. Barbara Chronowski, who portrayed a first class passenger in the motion picture Titanic, provides commentary and dramatic accompaniment.

Barbara portrays Mrs. Helen Churchill Candee, a spirited first class passenger who had a designer’s eye for detail, a novelist’s sense of atmosphere, and a journalist’s ear for conversation. Follow her musical journey aboard the great ship, from boarding to iceberg encounter.

Adam portrays Theodore Brailey, the talented Titanic pianist and young composer, who was to be married upon completion of the voyage. He bravely played lively tunes to the very end and went down with the ship. His rich renditions serve as a haunting soundtrack for one of modern history’s most tragic maritime disasters.
